About Beasties Animal Encounters and myself.
I am an experienced Biology teacher of over 17 years and have always shared my classroom with animals! I always loved seeing the effect animals had on children and how they brought learning to life. I decided to set up Beasties to combine my love for animals with education. I have animals from all over the world that live as much loved pets in our family home in Sheffield. I would love to share these wonderful animals with you for an experience you will not forget!
Animal welfare is of extreme importance and as the animals live in the family home they get 100% dedication and signs of illness or stress are recognised immediately. We have been inspected by Sheffield council and hold an animal activity licence which is required by the animal welfare regulations 2019.
Animal Welfare
Our mission is to educate about the wonders of the animal kingdom, raise awareness of wildlife conservation and keeping exotic animals. We give everyone the chance to interact with animals that they may have never had the chance to see before.
The majority of our animals have been rehomed from people that could not look after them anymore We carefully pick the species we choose to share our lives with, to ensure that we are able to meet their needs. This is why you won’t find us with animals such as meerkats or racoons. Rescue centres are full of exotic animals that have been abandoned when owners realise the time, dedication, space and cost it requires to keep them.
At Events
Journey times are considered and all bookings will occur within an hour of their home. Animals are placed in appropriate tanks/cages for travel to keep them safe, reptiles are moved to larger tanks on arrival. All animals have suitable enclosures which meet their needs at home, they do not live in these tanks!
The welfare of the animals comes first at all times. We give requirements to our customers beforehand regarding noise, numbers of people etc, and if it does become stressful for the animal, the animal/s will be removed from the situation. Occasionally animals may be going through natural processes e.g shedding which means they will not accompany us
